Let me tell my new observation!
As usual, the teacher did not forget to check the homework. :) Then she asked a question to the
students for "warm up" part. The question was "What were you doing at this time yesterday?". So we can realize that the teacher would focus on one of the grammar point, past continuous-past simple.
Some students answered in short.
Then worksheets -which the teacher distributed last lesson- were examined detailly. If there was a wrong answer, it was discussed.
After checking homework, the teacher stressed "which one is longer action?" in the sentences. For instance; 'As he was driving to work, he remembered that his briefcase was still at home.' In this sentence, the longer action is "driving". (Grammar was taught indirectly)
The teacher promised to review all of the units next week for the exam "to motive the students" for the lesson. Then she said: "But we should finish this unit today."
After then, keep going on listening a dialogue from the smartboard and filling the gaps activity. (Pronunciation + Listening skills) The dialogue was not understood by some students. To solve this problem, the teacher explained the text through repeating the sentences. (If I were her maybe I would use a mini-drama to trigger not only verbal but also visual skills.)
There was a different activity from the book "answer the questions". The teacher asked the students to write the answers to make the grammar permanent.
The second part of the lesson, one of the student helped the teacher as her assistant. She opened the smartboard and she asked the students listen to the text. (During the listening activity the teacher interfered with her assistant because some instructions which the assistant student gave couldn't be understood by the rest of the class.)
While doing the listening activity, the teacher motivated the students by saying "you are good listeners", "you are good at listening".
The last part of the lesson there was a dialogue between the teacher and the students like:
-Anıl, what did you do on saturday? -I read a book.
-Which book? (She always tries to keep the dialogue with the students)
-Berkay, what did you do on sunday?
According to these dialogues, the lesson was summarized basically.
This blog was my second observation for the internship dairy.
See you on next page and next experiences! :)
